The Town Hall has invested 153,000 euros in the complete refurbishment of this play area. It has a theme based on the identity of the village. After several months of work, the new park, La Muralla, was finally inaugurated on Tuesday 9th in the afternoon.  A large group of children from the village were present at the inauguration of the new image of the new facilities in Mijas Pueblo, together with the Mayor, Josele González (PSOE), and the Councillor for Parks and Gardens, Laura Moreno (PSOE). Afterwards, the little ones didn’t wait a minute longer to run around. The setting out and renovation of this park was one of the main demands of the town’s residents. Above all, it was a commitment of the government team to completely renovate the park,” she said. This park, which has been there for many years, and is one of the oldest, needed a major renovation. We were initially considering replacing it, but we quickly realised that it needed to be completely restructured and a new park was needed. With that in mind, we have inaugurated this space,” said the Mijas Councillor. For his part, Moreno was visibly excited and referred to the adapted swings, which the park has. “I am very happy for the children and for the parents who were constantly asking for the park ,and today, it is a reality after a long time,” said the mayor, who also highlighted some of the elements found in this space: “There is La Puente, the tower, the zip line has also been made, the colours ... white walls,  flower pots. It has been done the most of the space, because here in La Muralla we have quite limited space, but there are inclusive swings, which was very important for us too”. Valuations The project was long-awaited by the people of Mijas. “The facilities are great, they have the donkeys, things representative of the town, I think it’s spectacular, it looks safe and now we have to take care of it,” said Estefanía Nao, a neighbour who did not miss the inauguration of this space on Wednesday.    “I liked it a lot, especially the zip line. I’ve come with my friends and I’ve already jumped a few times”, said young Valeria Cuevas. Alexandra was of the same opinion, saying that “the park is very big and has lots of things to play with”.
