From today, those born between 1968 and 1969 will be able to make an appointment to receive a booster dose of COVID-19. Andalusia has already opened the self-appointment agenda for these people, who are 53 and 52 years old, and from Wednesday, will do so for those who were born in 1970 and 1971; that is to say, 51 and 50 years old.

Appointments can be made via the SAS website, through Clic Salud+; on the mobile application and the Salud Responde telephone number (955 54 50 50 60), and also at health centres, preferably by telephone. In addition, from tomorrow, Tuesday, people aged 55 or over who are pending a booster dose, those who have received a Janssen dose or the AstraZeneca regimen, as well as people aged 12 or over who are pending their first or second dose, can go to the vaccination points without an appointment.

Booster dose
For adults, this third dose is indicated if six months have passed since the second dose of messenger RNA (Pfizer or Moderna), three months since the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine, and three months since vaccination with Janssen. In the third dose, messenger RNA vaccines will be administered.

On the other hand, vaccination of children is continuing. Since last week, the self-appointment agenda is open for children aged 6 and 7 years (born in 2015 and 2014). In the case of children, the specific Pfizer preparation, in addition to containing a smaller amount of active ingredient, separates the two doses by an interval of eight weeks instead of three.

Finally, it should be noted that people under 65 years of age who are pending any dose of vaccine (first, second, or booster), it should be taken into account whether COVID-19 has recently been passed, as it is preferable to wait four weeks for vaccination after the infection has occurred or been diagnosed. From 65 years of age onwards, the four-week waiting period is not necessary, only that the person is well and out of isolation.
