The Ronald McDonald House in Malaga offers free accommodation for families who come to the city for their children to receive treatment at referral hospitals

This Friday,  2nd of December, McDonald's iconic burger will become a heart beating stronger than ever to help families who, due to life circumstances, have to travel from other parts of Spain to Malaga for their children to receive medical treatment. At the Ronald McDonald House they temporarily find a home. "It is a foundation that does essential work and provides a place to live to children who need treatment far from home. We have to think that it is a situation that can happen to anyone", said the councillor for Volunteering at the Mijas Town Hall, Mariló Olmedo (Cs).

During the presentation of this new McHappy Day, whose slogan is 'A united family is a stronger child', a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House in Malaga, Ana Romero, stated that "our work is to entertain the families, making cakes, biscuits, spending time and having fun with the children through different workshops so that they forget about the illness they are going through".

All sales generated from the sale of the Big Mac and the solidarity soft toys will go entirely to the company's foundation, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2022. "We encourage all families to collaborate with this initiative so that the Foundation can continue to have resources and provide much-needed support for families", said the councillor.

For her part, the manager of McDonalds Calahonda, Lucía Ramos, made reference to the shape that their star burger, the Big Mac, will take on this coming Friday: "This year we went all out because it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Foundation and it will have that special touch, with the bun in the shape of a heart. In addition, it will be possible to order everything as a set menu and cuddly toy".

The Foundation points out that the social services at the hospitals are responsible for transferring each of the cases to them, with a maximum of 14 families being able to be accommodated in Malaga. In Málaga, the Ronald McDonald House is located just a few metres from the Maternity Hospital.
