'Tus juguetes dan mucho juego’ (Your toys are a lot of fun), is the slogan forf the second great collection of new toys for Cruz Roja Mijas

'Tus juguetes dan mucho juego’ (Your toys are a lot of fun), is the slogan forf the second great collection of new toys for Cruz Roja Mijas, which is being promoted by the Education Department of the Mijas Town Hall in collaboration with the educational centres of Mijas and in coordination with the NGO. Last year it was very well received, exceeding all expectations, as the councillor for Education, Mariló Olmedo (Cs), pointed out. "Almost 700 toys were collected, the families from the schools were very supportive", Olmedo recalled, adding that "it consists of providing a new toy for the children of Mijas who do not have the possibility of having one on Three Kings' Day".
In this regard, the Youth worker of the Mijas Red Cross, Miriam Fernandez said that "we thought it was going to be a much more complicated campaign, but the people of Mijas turned out in force and we were able to provide for 177 children last Christmas".
The campaign will run from the 1st to the 15th of December. "Each school and high school will organise the schedule of delivery of these toys in the centre, and also inform iPasen, while the ampas will be organised to collect the toys", said the councillor, who stressed that this campaign is also launched again at the request of the schools themselves "who were already asking us if we were going to organise it this year.
Once all the toys have been collected, it will be the Red Cross who will distribute them among the most disadvantaged families in the municipality. "We are talking about toys that cover an age range up to 13 or 14 years old, who are the forgotten ones because when we talk about toys we always think of a doll or a car, but then we have the older ones who can be given a puzzle or a board game", recommends Fernández.
The Red Cross calls for educational, non-sexist and non-warlike toys to be given as gifts.
